Covered KIDZ in Church

This Sunday is a fifth Sunday. We have been using these Sundays as KIDZ in Church. Here are the KIDZ in Church notes. The note sheet is designed to help kids listen to the sermon and look at the preached text.

Remember, your child may get only some of the sermon, but they will get a lot from watching you during the service and talking to you afterward.  Take time to talk about what everyone heard.

Romans 8 is such a great chapter to study. An excellent way to prepare your child for KIDZ in Church Sunday is to read Romans 8:1 - 4. Tell them that last week, we learned that GOD DID what was necessary for our salvation (verse 3)

Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.  For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

And then read verses 5 through 8 with them.

Here are some talking points for you to discuss after the sermon.

  1. What does "Behavior reveals Truth" mean?
    • If you believe that God is sovereign and Jesus saves those who trust in Him, then you will act differently than if you trust yourself and what you do.
  2. Talk to your child about the Gospel. Share your salvation testimony with them.

The 1st - 5th graders will be watching the first part of the anniversary service.

The theme of today's lesson is Celebration.  Trinity is celebrating its 75th anniversary with the open house, receiving new members, communion, and a Gospel reminder from Pastor Brett.  The 1st - 5th graders will be learning about two events that remind us of what we need to celebrate:  Rebirth through Jesus (John 3) and Salvation in Jesus (John 4).

Take time today, this week, this month, and all of your time together to celebrate as a family THE HOPE WE HAVE IN JESUS CHRIST!
As you CELEBRATE GOD'S GOODNESSS AS A FAMILY, make it a habit to talk about these things regularly!

  • Talk to your children about what it means to be a member of a local church, which is why we are doing the We Are the Church study.  This could be a weekly talking point.
  • Talk to your children about what communion is.  Remind them that it is a memorial and a celebration of Jesus for those who have been saved.  This could be a monthly talking point.
  • TALK TO YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT THE GOSPEL, SALVATION, and JESUS CHRIST.  Use the booklet they will be taking home this morning.  This should be a daily talking!
