AWANA Closing 2024

 AWANA Closing Ceremony

It seems appropriate that the AWANA closing ceremony is during Volunteer Appreciation Week.
As we celebrate the work the children in AWANA did, we also need to thank the workers who served throughout the year.

The AWANA theme is part of 2 Timothy 2:15 "Approved Workman Are Never Ashamed."

If you read earlier in that chapter, Paul writes to Timothy, his spiritual son, "You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus." (2:1)
Paul goes on to charge Timothy with sharing this teaching with men who will teach others.

We are thankful for faithful teachers who have shared the truth of God's word with the children this year.

We have three other opportunities to help you and your family grow in God's word.

NEXT WEEK, on May 1st, a PRAY & PLAY time.  You can find out more about this night HERE

June 17 - 20 is our Vaction Bible School.  To register, go HERE

In July, Every Sunday morning we will have a combined Sunday School for parents and kids 2 years - 5th grade.  If you don't have a church home plan to join us.  More info coming soon.

Thank You!!

The church - Trinity Baptist Church and so many other churches - is blessed with so many volunteers.

If you look at our church calendar and the lives of the people, they are filled with so many volunteers.

  • Those who faithfully share God's Word and serve families with teens & kids through AWANA, VBS, youth group, Sunday School, children's church, childcare, and many other ways.
  • Those who come out to help on spring and fall workdays.
  • Those who serve other adults by providing rides to appointments, teaching classes, and sharing a coffee or meal with someone.
Two ways we can bless those who serve are to show appreciation and to pray.

Show your appreciation by saying thanks through spoken words and written words.

Show your appreciation through prayer. Pray for those who serve. Pray that God will help them serve the church well for God's honor and glory. Pray that God will provide the strength, wisdom, and patience to serve the church.
Part of next week's (May 1st) family prayer time will include praying for those who serve at Trinity Baptist Church.
"And do not neglect to do good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." (Hebrews 13:16)
As we thank and pray for Trinity's volunteers, we must remember that the work one does for God's glory in the church is so much more than doing work without getting paid.

So much volunteering is disciple-making - growing in your relationship with God and desiring to help others succeed.  It is investing what God has given to him into the lives of others.

A disciple-maker in the nursery understands…
They are helping moms and dads grow by allowing parents to attend classes and sermons.
They are helping babies develop a love for the church by providing a consistent, caring environment.

A disciple-maker in the 2-year-old through kindergarten classes understands…
They are doing so much more than wiping noses and passing out snacks.
They are showing the love of Jesus through their caring actions and creative sharing of Bible stories.

A disciple-maker in the 1st through 5th-grade classes understands…
They are not merely keeping kids busy while the parents are in church.
They show the kids genuine worship as they sit in the auditorium and praise our amazing Savior.
They show the love of Jesus by taking time to teach, talk to, and listen to the kids.

A disciple-maker who is greeting on Sunday morning understands…
They are not just greeting people at the door.
They are helping others prepare for our Sunday morning gathering time.
They welcome those who desperately need Jesus to a service proclaiming Him in singing, preaching, and conversation.

A disciple-maker in a small group leadership role understands…
They are not running a group meeting.
They are showing sincere love by being used by God to love people more.
They show God-focused trust by praying for their and the group’s concerns.

Serving in any ministry at church is more than volunteering time.
It is glorifying God by helping others.
It is about growing in Christ and investing in the spiritual growth of others.
"Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth." (1 John 3:18)
