Day 4 (Thursday) VBS Junkyard Redemption

Bible Texts: Revelation 1, 21, 22. Memory Verse: Revelation 21:5.

Today we discussed a question that many of us have probably wondered. We know Jesus paid the price for sin, and we know God loves us, but how can we face our messed-up world today? We learned that God gives us incredible hope for the future, and His Spirit gives us help for today!

Question: When will God fix our world for good?

Takeaway: God will one day make all things new. Live with hope!

Family Fun

Gather goodies and card-making materials (e.g., card stock or construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, markers) and a nice gift bag or box.

As a family, think of someone who could use some hope. Make a hope bag or box to show Jesus’ love. Take it to the person at a good time. Pray with the person and thank God that He loves us even in this broken world, and for the sure hope that one day He will make all things new.

Discovering Hope

  • God gave John, one of Jesus’ special followers, a sneak peek into how He’s going to fix our broken world.
  • One day God will create a perfect new heaven and new earth.
  • The new heaven and new earth will be more wonderful than the Garden of Eden.
  • Even now, God’s Spirit is with His children to guide, comfort, and help them!

Day 3 (Wednesday) VBS Junkyard Redemption

Bible Texts: John 1, 18, 19, 20. Memory Verse: Ephesians 1:7.

Today was the high point of VBS. We learned why we can always hope—no matter what—and know that things will turn out okay in the end! How can we have that confidence? Because the price to fix our broken world has been paid in full!

Question: What is the price to fix my brokenness?

Takeaway: Jesus paid the price for your redemption. Come to Him!

Family Fun

Gather clear jars or bottles with lids, plus small heavy items (like screws) and lightweight particles (like sand or glitter). Fill each container ¾ with water. Shake each jar with different items and observe how heavy objects sink, but lighter ones float or swirl.

Conversation Idea: We couldn’t make the screws act like particles in a real snow globe. And we can’t do anything about our sin. But Jesus can! On a cross, He paid the price for all our sins to be forgiven.

Discovering Hope

  • Jesus fulfilled every single one of God’s promises of a redeemer—but tragically, He wasn’t the kind of redeemer people had been looking for.
  • People rejected Jesus and put Him on trial.
  • Jesus died as the perfect sacrifice, paying the ransom to set us free from sin.
  • But then He rose again, winning the victory over sin and its brokenness!

Day 2 (Tuesday) VBS Junkyard Redemption

Bible Texts: Genesis 12; Exodus 1, 3, 11, 12. Memory Verse: Hebrews 10:23.

Thanks for letting your child attend our VBS!

Do you like watching shows where people fix old houses or cars? Sometimes those houses or cars seem too broken to fix. We’ve all faced situations that seemed impossible. But there is always hope! Today we learned where to look for help.

Question: Who can I trust to fix our world?

Takeaway: God always keeps His promises. Trust Him!

Family Fun

Search online for a video clip your family will enjoy about home or auto restoration. Watch the video together.

Conversation Idea: [Name of people in the video] were good at fixing things! We can trust they know how to fix something. In the same way, we can trust what God says. He made the world, fixes what’s broken inside us, and has promised to one day fix the whole world!

Discovering Hope

  • God promised to make Abraham into a great nation and to bless all nations through him.
  • God kept His promise by making a great nation from Abraham and redeeming them from a difficult time of slavery in Egypt.
  • Today He will redeem—set free from sin—anyone who trusts in Jesus as Savior!

Day 1 (Monday) VBS Junkyard Redemption

Bible Texts: Genesis 1—3. Memory Verses: Romans 8:18 and Romans 8:22a.

We’re thrilled that you let your child attend our VBS!

At VBS, we’re learning how to make sense of our world so we can go forward with hope and purpose. We all want that for our children. But don’t things often seem to work against us? How can our kids face discouraging stuff and still thrive?

On the first day of VBS, we learned the answers to a question where we need to start.

Question: What went wrong with our world?

Takeaway: God promised to fix the brokenness caused by sin. Stay hopeful!

Family Fun

Gather an equal amount of different kinds of items (e.g., 5 paper wads, 5 pens, 5 hair ties). A non-player hides all the items in a room, your house, or your yard. Designate each kind of item to a player. On a signal, players search for their designated “treasure.” The first player to find all of his or her items wins.

Conversation Idea: Some collectors search for valuable items in junkyards. We are valuable to God, worth a lot to Him. When sin broke our world, He already had a plan for our redemption.

Discovering Hope

  • God created everything perfect, but sin broke creation.
  • Since then, creation and our relationships suffer. Like in a junkyard, things don’t work properly anymore.
  • But God gave a promise—one day, a descendant of Eve would fix the problem and make everything right!

Wonder Junction Wrap Up

Our Theme Verse was Psalm 113:3 - "From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised."

At Trinity Baptist Church, we want to help families praise the LORD.  Three of the ways we do this is Gospel-Focused,  Bible Teaching, and Connection with Others.

Gospel Focused Everything

These Five Colors were purposefully placed throughout the decorations.

God - The Greatest Treasure

Sin- Our Biggest Problem
Jesus and His Shed Blood - The greatest gift
Salvation/Purity - Our Greatest Need, a right relationship with God, found only in Christ.
Spiritual Growth - Growing into the Image of Jesus.

We need to understand God, and a right relationship with Him is the best thing, but because of our sin, we have a broken relationship with God.  Here's the amazing part: we couldn't have addressed this problem on our own.  God did so by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins.  By confessing your sin and trusting in Jesus as your Lord, you have a right relationship with God and need to continue growing in Jesus' strength.

While the VBS decorations are not up all year round, the call to confess your sin and trust in God is constant at Trinity.

Non-Stop Bible Lessons

We offer Bible-based Sunday School (9:45 am) and Children's Church (11:00 am) Lessons on Sunday mornings.

Our AWANA mid-week children's ministry starts in the fall.  Check back here in August for more information.

Tuesday Night's Lesson

Tuesday's lesson was "Jesus does wondrous things."

Tonight, we fast-forwarded to Jesus’ ministry years when he was around the age of 30. We talked about His wonder-working power and how He showed compassion for people. He performed miracles that revealed He is truly God.

We explored four Gospel stories that highlight the different things Jesus has power over:

  1. Power over sickness and disease – Jesus healed a woman with a fever (Mark 1:29–31)
  2. Power over nature – Jesus calmed a violent storm (Mark 4:35–39).
  3. Power over sin – Jesus forgave and healed a paralyzed man (Mark 2:1–12).
  4. Power over death – Jesus raised a young girl back to life (Mark 5:21–24, 35–42).

These miracles matter because the same Jesus who performed them over 2,000 years ago is still at work today. He cares about every detail of our lives, and nothing is too difficult for Him!

Monday Night's Lesson - Jesus' Birth

Monday's lesson was "Jesus is Born."  The Bible passages were Matthew 1 and 2 and Luke 2.

The most important person ever to be born was Jesus. Jesus is God, and he came down to be fully human because he loves us and knew we needed a savior.

4 Wonders Surrounding Jesus' Birth:
  1. The angel Gabriel visited Mary and told her that she would have a son named Jesus.
  2. Shepherds were visited by an angel who brought good news of a savior born in Bethlehem, followed by a group of angels filling the sky praising God.
  3. A special star appeared to the wise men who followed the star all the way to Bethlehem, where they brought Jesus expensive gifts and worshipped him.
  4. The fact that Jesus came! He left a perfect heaven and came to live in a fallen world as a human. He revealed to us his glory through a perfect life and ministry. Biggest take-away: When we 'wonder' at something, that means it makes us say, "WOW!" These four wonders really happened. Jesus' birth was the most important birth of all time, and we wonder at the truth revealed in God's word that tells us the miraculous things that took place surrounding his birth.

Jungle Journey Thursday

A summary of the whole week will be posted Sunday night.

Our Final Night's C was Consummation.
At the end of the Bible, in Revelation, we see the return of Christ, the end of sin and the curse.
This week, we learned about Jesus humbly coming to earth as a baby in a manger and humbly dying on the cross and then rising from the dead.
In Revelation, we see that one day Jesus will return gloriously!

Our memory verse, Revelation 21:4, summarizes this truth.

Our final total for Faith In Deeds offering was over $800.  Thank you so much for giving to this home for orphaned and abandoned children.

Despite having lower numbers than in previous years, we are excited about the opportunity to minister to the children and families brought to VBS this year.

Singing

Serving

Thank you to everyone who served in so many different ways.  It was great to see church members serving children, praying, and singing praises to God.
