God Stopped the Rain

Lesson: Genesis 8:1-12

  • How did God care for Noah while he was on the boat? (God kept them safe in the big boat. He stopped the rain.)

Verse: “He [God] cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

  • Repeat the verse together, change the ‘you’ to your child's name.


Pre-K/K:

Hannah’s Special Prayer

Lesson: 1 Samuel 1:19-2:11

  • What did God give Hannah? (A baby boy)

  • What did she name her baby boy? (Samuel)

Verse: “In [God] my heart trusts; … my heart exults” (Psalm 28:7)

  •  What word does the verse use to explain how we can feel when we trust God? (Exults, which means rejoice)


1st Grade Sunday School:

Jesus Is The Great Physician 

Lesson: Matt. 8:1-13

  • What did Jesus do to heal the leper?

Verse: Mark 9:23

  • What will having faith in Jesus do in our lives?


2nd-3rd Grade Sunday School:

Israel Wanted a Warrior King

Lesson: 1 Samuel 8-12

  • Who did God select to be the king of Israel?

Verse: Psalm 118:9

Theme: God’s character and abilities are always worthy of our complete trust.

Application: Israel stopped trusting in God and started rejecting God’s military leadership. Israel asked God for help to find King Saul. Help your child understand God is more important than anyone/anything in their life.

4th-5th Grade Sunday School:

God Will Triumph 

Lesson: Psalm 14

  • When have you witnessed or experienced people making fun of Christians or mocking a Christian for his belief in Jesus for salvation? How should our lives be different?

Verse: Psalm 14:7

Theme: God’s victory over sin and death gives us a message of hope. 

Application: No one, except Christ, is qualified to save a world filled with fools. David longed for salvation from Zion. Jesus is that salvation! Help your child know the gospel well. 


1st-3rd Grade Children's Church:

Moses’ Death

Lesson: Deuteronomy 32:48-34:12

  • How was God faithful to Israel?

Verse: Deuteronomy 6:4-6

  • Activity: Write verse 6 inside a drawn heart. Around the outside of the heart, write/draw ways we can love God for being faithful to us.

God Rescued Noah

Lesson: Genesis 7:10-24

  • How did God rescue Noah? (They stayed safe and dry inside the boat)

  • Sing the following to the tune of ‘Jesus Loves Me’

God made all the things I see,
Birds and squirrels and fish and bees.
God does care for all of these. 
And God cares for you and me.

  • What did Hannah pray for? (A baby)

Verse: “In [God] my heart trusts; … my heart exults” (Psalm 28:7)

  • What does it mean to trust God? (To trust God means we believe God will do what is right for us.)

Jesus Revealed His Glory

Lesson: Matt. 16:21; 17:1-13; Mark 9:1-13

  • Who speaks from heaven? 

  • Do we know what Jesus looked like?

  • Why is Jesus’ glory the same as God’s glory?

God Refused to Abandon Israel

Lesson: 1 Samuel 4-7

  • How did God demonstrate His mighty power?

Verse: 1 Samuel 7:10b

Theme: God remains faithful even when we fail

Application: God proved that He doesn’t abandon His people by helping Israel regain possession of the ark of the covenant after they lost it. Help your child understand they can talk with God in moments of loneliness or fear.

4th-5th Grade Sunday School

God Reveals Himself

Lesson: Psalm 19

  • David called the Lord his “strength” and “redeemer.” Why are those names important to anyone who tries to live for God? 

Verse: Psalm 19:1

Theme: God shares His character and abilities in Creation and His Word. 

Application: Psalm 19 was written by David, saying that both creation and God’s Words reveal God to us. Help your child read the Bible to learn more about God.

1st-3rd Grade Children's Church

  • Why should we sing songs of praise to God?

  • What was God’s message to Eli’s family?

Theme: God deals with sin justly

Application: God’s message of judgement, on Eli’s wicked sons, communicated God’s ability to see sin and His need to punish sin. Help your child understand the seriousness of sin.

4th-5th Grade SS:

God Cares for Us

Lesson: Psalm 23

  • When have you been glad you chose to follow the Lord instead of disobeying Him?

Verse: Psalm 23:1, 2

Theme: God cares for us with the love and sacrifice of a good shepherd. 

Application: The lesson presented the Lord’s roles of meeting needs, leading, securing, and comforting His own as the good shepherd. Help your child understand their need for a “shepherd” to guide them through life.

  • What are some situations in which you might need to remember God’s presence?

  • How can the assurance of God’s presence give you courage?

God Answered Hannah’s Prayer

  • What was her promise to God if he gave her a child?

Verse: Proverbs 11:24

Theme: God blesses us when we are generous. 

Application: Hannah’s reaction to Peninnah’s provoking was to pray. She knew that joy comes from giving to others. Hannah rejoiced to have the opportunity to give Samuel to God. Help your child pray for the needs of others.

4th-5th Grade SS

God Enjoys Our Praise 

Lesson: Psalm 138

  • If God’s mercy had an expiration date, how would that affect our future?

Verse: Psalm 138:1

Theme: God’s glory deserves our heartfelt praise. 

Application: David praised God’s glory and never feared the false gods because they weren’t real. Help your child praise God even in the face of uncertainty or adversity.
