Jesus Listened to His Disciples

Lesson: Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41

  • What happened in the story? (A storm came and scared the disciples)

  • Why could Jesus stop the storm? (He is God’s Son)

Verse: “I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10)

  • Write the verse on a paper, grab a flashlight, turn off the lights and read the verse by flashlight. 


Pre-K/Kindergarten:

Jesus Cause the Deaf to Hear

Lesson: Mark 7:31-37

  • How quickly do the miracles Jesus performs happen? (Immediately)

  • What miracle happened in today's story? (Jesus made the deaf-mute man able to speak and see)

Verse: “Jesus… went about doing good” (Acts 10:38)

  • Write the verse on a paper, grab a flashlight, turn off the lights and read the verse by flashlight. 


1st Grade SS:

David Said “No” to Revenge

Lesson: 1 Samuel 24; 26

  • How did David show faithfulness in God’s plan? 

Verse: Psalm 56:3

Application: Help your child believe God always cares and provides. 


2nd/3rd Grade SS:

Daniel’s Historic Interpretation

Lesson: Daniel 1; 2

  • How should we respond to God’s sovereign control over kings and history?

Verse: Proverbs 21:1

Theme: God controls history as the sovereign over all. 

Application: This week’s lesson covered Daniel’s refusal to eat the king’s meat and his interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream. In both cases, God demonstrated His sovereign power. Help your child ask God for wisdom and strength. Help him or her not fret about the future. 


4th/5th Grade SS:

The Word Relates

Lesson: John 15:1-8

  • How do I know if I’m abiding in Christ?

Verse: John 15:5

Theme: The Word helps us bear fruit as we abide in Him. 

Application: Jesus instructed his disciples to abide in Him so they might bear spiritual fruit. Jesus used a grapevine to illustrate our need to be connected to Him. Help your child realize the importance of a regular time in God’s Word. 


1st-3rd Grade CC:

Samuel Serves God

Lesson: 1 Samuel 1-3

Theme: God answers our prayers. 

  • Create a prayer reminder and use it this coming week. Or create a prayer journal together. 

Verse: 1 Samuel 2:2

  • Create a word card scramble. Write out the verse on notecards (1-2 words per card) and scramble the cards up. Have the kids help you put the verse in correct order
