April 19

Toddlers:

Samuel Helps Eli

Lesson: 1 Samuel 1:24-2:11

  • Who did Hannah bring Samuel to? (Eli in God’s house)

Verse: “We will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15)

  • Activity: Call out commands for your child to follow as they say the verse. Suggestions: Whisper as you say the verse, clap your hands as you say the verse, stand on one leg.

Lesson: Daniel 3

  • When the friends were in the furnace, who did they trust?

  • When are you afraid? Who can you trust in those moments?

Theme: Jesus has power over sin’s effects on our bodies. 

Application: This week covered Jesus’ miraculous healing of a leper and a blind man. Help your child seek to help the spiritually blind see their need for salvation. 



4th-5th Grade Sunday School:

Talk to the Commander

Lesson: Acts 12:1-19; Eph. 6:18, 19; James %:16

  • How should God’s answer to the early church’s prayers affect your prayer life?

Verse: Eph. 6:18

Theme: God answered Peter’s prayers and sent an angel to release him from prison. God stands ready to answer believers’ prayers. Help your child praise God for answering their prayers.  



1st-3rd Grade Children's Church:

God’s Promise to David

Lesson: 2 Samuel 2:1-5:7

Theme: God rewards those who seek his will. 

  • What are some decisions kids your age have to make? What should we do when making decisions?

Verse: 2 Samuel 7:22a

  • Create a picture to represent the verse. Write the verse under the picture. Recite the verse daily.

Lesson: Daniel 1

  • Why was it more important for the four friends to honor God rather than King Nebuchadnezzar?

Verse: “We must obey God rather than man.” (Acts 5:29)

  • Write the verse on notecards (one word per notecard) and have your child(ren) put them in correct order. 



1st Grade Sunday School:

New Freedom and New Life

Lesson: 2 Kings 4:1-37

  • How do you think the woman felt when she saw her son alive again?

Jesus Condemns Hypocrisy

Lesson: Mark 2:13-17; 3:1-6

  • What does the word ‘hypocrite’ mean?

  • Who was being a hypocrite in your lesson today?

Verse: Matthew 15:8

Theme: Jesus’ true followers worship Him from their hearts.

Application: This week’s lesson covered Jesus’ condemnation of the scribes and Pharisees for being hypocrites. Help your child understand God’s hatred for hypocrisy. 



4th-5th Grade Sunday School:

Praise the Commander

Lesson: Acts 16:6-40

  • How might today's story have been different if Paul and Silas had cursed God for allowing them to be beaten and imprisoned?

Verse: Acts 16:25

Theme: God always deserves our sincere worship and praise. 

Application: Paul and Silas were beaten and jailed for obeying God in Philippi. They responded by praying and singing to God. Help your child rejoice in the Lord no matter their circumstances. 



1st-3rd Grade Children's Church

David’s Lesson and Saul’s Final Days

Lesson: 1 Samuel 27-32

Theme: God graciously teaches us to trust Him.

  • When you are confused or faced with a problem and don’t know what to do, how might God’s faithfulness help you trust Him?

  • What great things has God done for you in the past? How does that give you courage to trust God?

Verse: 2 Samuel 7:22a

  • Write the verse on a notecard and hang somewhere visible to practice together daily.
