Building God’s House

Lesson: 1 Kings 6:1-9; 2 Chronicles 3:1-5:1

  • Who gave Solomon the plans to build God’s house? (King David)

Verse: “Let us go to the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1)

  • Write the verse on a paper, grab a flashlight, turn off the lights and read the verse by flashlight.

Theme: Jesus willingly died for the sins of the world. 

Application: This week’s lesson covered Jesus’ arrest, trials, and crucifixion. Though Jesus had all the power He needed to avoid the cross, He surrendered to the Father’s will. Help your child understand that Jesus bore the penalty for their sin. 



4th-5th Grade Sunday School:

Money Wise

Lesson: Acts 2:40-47; 2 Cor. 8:1-9; 9:7, 8, 15

  • How did the generous church members affect the unbelievers who witnessed their generosity?

Verse: 2 Cor. 8::9

Theme: God expects us to manage His money to further His mission. 

Application: This week’s lesson covered the stewardship of money in the context of the early church. Help your child and their awareness that their money belongs to God. 



1st-3rd Grade Children's Church:

Theme: God is worthy of our sacrifice and praise.

  • What did God tell Samuel? (Eli’s sons were going to be punished)

  • Did Samuel tell Eli? (He was scared, but he did)

Verse: “We will obey the voice of the Lord” (Jeremiah 42:6)

  • Create motions for the verse and practice together.

God Directed His People

Lesson: Esther 2

  • Who gives people the power and authority to rule?

Verse: “There is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (Romans 13:1)

  • Walk through the verse and the vocabulary. Authority: power, position of ruling. Instituted: placed there. Though people vote for new leaders, God controls the outcome. The person God chooses always wins.

  • Why do you think Jesus looked forward to the Passover meal?

Verse: Luke 22:19

Theme: Jesus gave us a way to remember His death. 

Application: The week’s lesson covered Jesus’ final Passover celebration with His disciples. He used the occasion to explain how His body and blood are symbolized by the broken bread and grape juice. Help your child believe that salvation is a gift based on Jesus’ death.


4th-5th Grade Sunday School:

Body Wise

Lesson: Multiple passages

  • What might someone do to bring glory to God?

Verse: 1 Cor. 6:19, 20 

Theme: God wants us to respect our bodies as the temple of the Holy Spirit. 

Application: This lesson covered God’s ownership of our bodies, our need to care for ourselves, and God’s desire to use our bodies for His glory. Help your child recognize that their body belongs to God.  



1st-3rd Grade Children's Church:

King Solomon Requests Wisdom

Lesson: 1 Kings 1:1-3:15

Theme: God should be more important to us than all else.  

  • Have you ever been in a situation where you just didn’t know what to do?

  • What is the first thing you should ask God for if you find yourself in a situation?

Theme: God wants us to meditate on His truth and guard our minds from evil. 

Application: This week’s lesson covered Paul’s instructions to guard our minds from being conformed to the world. He commanded believers to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. Help your child know the importance of filling their mind with God’s truth.
