**No Sunday School this week!**

Toddlers: 

Shepherd Visited Baby Jesus

Lesson: Luke 2:7-20

  • Why were the shepherds happy in your story today? (They were glad to see Baby Jesus.)

Verse: “Unto you is born this day … a Savior” (Luke 2:11)

  • Write the verse out on a paper, say it together. Slowly cover up words of the verse, continue saying the verse until the verse is known by the child(ren). 


Pre-K/Kindergarten:

  • Where can we find God’s instructions for us?

  • Create a verse hunt with the verse. Write 1-2 words on a card and hide them around the house. Once all cards have been found, put the verse in the correct order.

  • What did the angels tell the shepherds? (The good news that God’s Son, Jesus, had been born.)

  • Have your child draw a picture representing the verse and talk about it together.

Lesson: Luke 1:5-25, 39-58

  • What is Jesus saving us from? (sin)

  • What is sin? 

Verse: “For God so loved the world, He have his only son” (John 3:16)

  • How did God continue his royal family line?

  • What was God’s purpose for sending Jesus to us?

Verse: Deuteronomy 7:9; Luke 2:11

  • Have your child draw a picture representing the verse and talk about it together. 

Application: Help your child celebrate the birth of Jesus!
Application: Help your child understand that God is perfect and cannot break His promises. 

2nd/3rd Grade SS:

Lesson: 1 Kings 21, 22:1-40, 2 Kings 9; 

Isaiah 7, 9:2-7

  • What does it mean to humble oneself?

  • Why did Jesus need a human body to be the Savior of the world?

Verse: Hebrews 13:5; Isaiah 9:5

Theme: God’s relationship with us gives us the opportunity to live contentedly,

God will send Jesus to be the perfect King of kings. 

Application: This week covered Ahab’s discontentment and his sinful attempt to find 

satisfaction. Help your child find contentment from his or her relationship with God. 

This lesson covered Isaiah’s prophecies concerning Jesus’ birth and future Kingdom. Help your child believe salvation comes through Christ alone. 


4th/5th Grade SS:

Due to no Sunday School on Dec. 28, students will be working on 2 lessons this week. 

The Word Chose Followers

The Word Brings Transformation

Lesson: John 1:19-51; John 2:1-3:21

  • How can I follow Jesus when I can’t see Him?

  • Why is Christ’s death necessary for heart transformation?

Verse: John 1:36, 37; John 3:3

Theme: The Word deserves our lifelong devotion. 

The Word transforms sinners by His power. 

Application: Jesus’ disciples were led by God to leave their lives as they knew them to follow the Lord. Help your child as they consider Christ his or her guide.

Jesus’ first sign was transforming water into wine. The sign illustrated the transformation that must happen in a person’s heart in order to be saved.  Help your child understand that doing good works should be out of love for the Lord. 


1st-3rd Grade CC:

Christmas Story

Lesson: Luke 2

Theme: Jesus came to Earth as a baby to save us. 

  • Can you recall the story of Jesus’ birth? What are 4 main points?

Verse: Luke 2:7

  • Create a picture to represent the verse. Write the verse under the picture.

Lesson: Luke 1:26-38

  • What is impossible for God? (Nothing)

  • Sing ‘Oh How I Love Jesus’ together

Verse: “You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21)

  • Create motions for the verse and practice together. 


1st Grade SS:

  • How did God provide for Ruth and Naomi?

Application: Help your child acknowledge God’s provision, even in the small things.


2nd/3rd Grade SS:

God Defeated Baal

Lesson: 1 Kings 16:29-18:46

  • How did God provide for Israel?

Verse: 1 Kings 18:21

Theme: God hears us because He is real. 

Application: This week covered God’s judgment on Israel for embracing Baal worship. God sent a drought on Israel but took care of a Phoenician widow and Elijah because of their trust in Him. Help your child embrace God’s promises to him or her. 


4th/5th Grade SS:

The Word Became Flesh

Lesson: John 1:1-18

  • How can Jesus be both God and man?

Verse: John 1:14

Theme: The Word is Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God. 

Application: Jesus is the unique communication of God to humanity. Jesus is both the eternal Son of God and the Son of Man. Help your child with their understanding of how Jesus is the Word, the eternal Son of God.

  • How did God use King Rehoboam’s decision to tear apart Israel? 

Verse: Jeremiah 10:32

Theme: God wants us to submit to His loving authority over our lives.

Application: This lesson covered God’s judgment on a man of God and kings Solomon, Rehoboam, and Jeroboam for their selfish choices. Help your child recognize that God gave him or her parents to help him or her grow in the Lord. 


4th-5th Grade Sunday School:

The Word on the Word

Lesson: John 20:30, 31

  • Why didn’t Jesus heal everyone He met?

Verse: John 20:31

Theme: The Word is the way to eternal life. 

Application: John recorded Jesus’ miracles so his readers would believe in Jesus for eternal life. Help your child consider whether he or she is trusting in Jesus for salvation.


1st-3rd Grade Children's Church:
